The climbing wall at Miramont North is awesome.

It wraps all the way around an entire side of the club. It has a few self belayers, a lot of space that can be used for bouldering, and it reaches all the way up to the very tall ceiling.

Climbers love it. I'm not really a climber and I love it. Well, it's about to be even better. A renovation is on the way.

To get ready for it, the old has to go away, so Miramont is going to give it's climbing faithful, and anyone else, a chance to take a big swing at the old wall. With a sledge hammer.

Miramont is inviting the community to their “Demo Party” on May 16, from 4-6 p.m. to help get the project started. Attendees can swing the sledgehammer twice for $5. One hundred percent of proceeds will benefit Colorado Moves to End Cancer and Northern Colorado Climbing Coalition. Light refreshments and adult beverages will be provided. Construction on the wall is expected to be completed by early summer.

Miramont has partnered with Eldorado Climbing Walls, a Boulder based company, to design and build the new wall. The completed structure will feature a new rope wall, extension of their signature "Wave" boulder, 5.5 inch padding for rope wall, 12 inch seamless padding for bouldering areas, and a resurface of all current bouldering structures.

“Climbing in Northern Colorado has grown substantially since we opened our first climbing wall in 1998,” said Assistant General Manager for Miramont, Chad Bryant. “Now 17 years later we hope to continue that growth with the support of a modern climbing facility that meets the needs of both beginners and experienced climbers.”
