Update 4 p.m., April 18: According to a statement released by the Poudre School District, the three students and school bus driver who were taken to the Poudre Valley Hospital following the accident have been released from the hospital.

The driver of the Toyata Solara that crashed into the back of the bus while it was stopped waiting to pick up a student, is still at the hospital. Although the 24-year-old woman is being treated for serious injuries, the Coloradoan has reported that she is in stable condition.

The woman's car was logged under the bus during the crash and following the Friday morning crash site investigation, crews had to hoist the bus up to pull the car out from under it. Colorado State Patrol Trooper Josh Lewis told the Coloradoan that the impact from the car moved the bus forward by approximately 18 feet.

Authorities said that the woman let herself out of the vehicle after the crash and then collapsed.

The crash remains under investigation. At this time, it has not been disclosed whether distracted driving or a view obstruction, such as sun glare, were a factor. Drugs and alcohol and excessive speed (the speed limit is 55 mph on that stretch of road) are not being considered as factors.

Update noon, April 18: According to the Coloradoan, the driver of the car was transported by helicopter to Medical Center of the Rockies. Additionally, three Poudre School District students and the driver of the school bus involved in the accident were transported to Poudre Valley Hospital via ambulance.
