A few weeks ago we rode motorcycles to a reservoir just above Boulder.

My friend wanted to go swimming. Sorry, no swimming allowed.

Now, the rules for such things are fine with me, but I think a reservoir is more fun when we can swim in it, don't you?

Horsetooth Reservoir has designated areas for swimming. But if you want one that has no motorboats, and very few restrictions, plus a hike and a wild and scenic feel, Seaman Reservoir is the one.

It's just above Gateway Park, and that is 5 miles from Ted's Place in Poudre Canyon. Parking is $5 for a day, and leash laws are in effect.

The hike is easy, barely a mile. It doesn't feel like a mile, and it's important to know which way to go because there are a few turns and Y's that must be navigated. Once you've been there though, it's easy to find.

There is a trail that leads around most of it, and there are good spots for cliff jumping.

It's a beautiful medium elevation spot that just screams Northern Colorado. Rolling mountains, sage brush, and trees that show the history of wildfires in the area.
