Sandra Smyser is the Poudre School District’s new superintendent. Smyser replaces Jerry Wilson, who resigned in May. She recently served as superintendent of Vail’s Eagle County School District. Smyser and Todd Lambert were the top two finalists for the post. They were chosen from a pool of 38 applicants.

Prior to Eagle County School District, Dr. Smyser was the Interim Superintendent in Steamboat Springs School District, Superintendent of Las Virgenes Unified School District in California, Superintendent of Carpinteria Unified School District in California and Superintendent/Chief Business Official for Solvang Elementary School District in California.

Her education includes a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Special Education and Elementary Education, University of Maryland; a Masters of Arts Degree in Education and Spanish, University of South Carolina; and a Ph.D. in Special Education, University of California, Riverside.
