Ride a Day in the Month of May – Along the Big Thompson River
My Bestie is the most generous friend a girl could ever have, and when we get to ride together on her big farm the hours just slip away. We love to catch up with each other while on horseback. Yesterday we rode along the Big Thomson River that goes through her property and saw the hundreds of heron and the eagle nests full of babies.
We watched Kingfishers diving for dinner and Killdeer, which like to build their nests on small rocks. In fact, Kitty had put a little flag up near one of those nests full of eggs The Meadowlarks sang, the ducks swam, and the Redwing blackbirds were just lovely.
Rather than hauling one of my horses there, I rode one of Bestie's, a big appaloosa named Barracuda or Cuda for short. A lovely Ride a Day in the Month of May. It's no wonder that I live in gratitude.
