A woman was injured while feeding a rhino at the Denver Zoo Wednesday afternoon. Zoo officials say the woman was participating in a rhino "meet and greet" in which visitors who paid an extra $60 were offered a chance to touch and feed a rhino, when Mshindi, a black rhinoceros, bit the woman's finger.

She was taken to a hospital by ambulance. Her condition has not been disclosed. The Zoo has suspended the program. Brian Aucone, the zoo's vice president for animal care said:

"This is a terrible accident. We feel horrible for the woman involved. Mshindi is a gentle animal. We believe this was an accident and that he was not trying to hurt anyone."

Mshindi is currently off exhibit…or in Rhino time-out.
