About eight months ago, Robyn and I had to find a new place to live.  We're not quite ready for home ownership yet, so we turned to shopping for a rental.  It was then I learned what kind of shape the Fort Collins rental market is in, and it's not great.

Vacancy rates in Fort Collins fell to 2.4 percent in the last three months of 2012, down a percentage point from the year before.

Meanwhile, as it became harder to find a place to rent in the city, the price renters paid for units rose to an average $1,008, a 3.5 percent increase in the Fort Collins-Loveland area.

Yup, that's about what we pay for our tiny apartment, and that's only because we got a discount!

At least it looks like more apartments are being build in the area.  Hopefully that'll help things a little; because, seriously, it's ridiculous out there right now.
