Memorial Day Weekend means many things to many people whether we have served this great country or not.  I don’t know one person who doesn’t know someone who has served be it their Grandfather, Father or friend of a friend.  EACH one of us has Military ties and we pay homage to them every Memorial Day weekend without fail.

Remembering Our Fallen is a tribute display to all those who have died from Colorado as a result of wounds suffered in a war zone, while in uniform, since 9/11/2001.

The open viewing of this amazing display will take place at the Loveland Annex Building just West of the Rialto Theater on 4th st.

Open viewing will take place May 24th through the 31st from 10am to 6pm daily.  Gold Star Families will have a private viewing of the display on May 26th from 8am to 8:30am and the public or media will not be allowed in during that time.  There will however be a public memorial service event on Saturday the 26th from 9am to 11am.

Sunday you can take part of “A Living History” that honors all U.S. Veterans at the Veterans Plaza at Spring Canyon Park in Fort Collins..  Generations will tell you about their experiences while serving this great country in a very unique audience participation event.  There will also be re-enactors, vintage military vehicles, a Blackhawk helicopter, music, food, a 5K race that starts at 9am and a Purple Heart awarding ceremony at Noon.

The featured speaker will be SSgt John Jones, USMC.   {Above Photo} Ssgt Jones is a double amputee below the knees, shrapnel in parts of thighs and wrists, some memory and hearing loss, post traumatic stress disorder…and still kicking ass and taking names!  He was part of 1st Battalion/ 7th Marines, Charlie Company. Semper Fi!

For information on the Saturday and Sunday events please contact the Veterans Plaza of Northern Colorado or click to visit their website.
