Many families have Christmas cookie-making traditions. Whether it be weeks before the big holiday, on Christmas Eve, all of one kind, or a variety of tasty treats – 'tis the season to bring out those deer-shaped cookie cutters and stock up on some green and red sprinkles.

To make the most out of Christmas cookie eating, I opt for trying out different recipes all throughout December...because why not?

A few weeks ago, while setting up the tree, I tried out a red velvet cookie recipe that did not disappoint. What's even better, is that they only require five ingredients! Plus, they are super festive looking – making them a perfect option if you happen to be in charge of bringing dessert to Christmas dinner this year.

Red Velvet Christmas Cookies

1 box of red velvet cake mix

1 tsp. cornstarch

2 eggs

3/4 cup powdered sugar

6 tbsp. butter (melted)

Start by preheating the oven to 400°.

In a small bowl, combine the powdered sugar and cornstarch.

In a bigger bowl, mix together the eggs, cake mix, and butter. Mix well until completely combined.

Scoop 1-inch balls out of the dough and place on greased cookie sheet (mine spread quite a bit so leave room).

With a spoon, pat the powdered sugar/cornstarch mixture on top of each dough ball.

Bake for 7-9 minutes, or until done. Then, let them cool for a few minutes and get to eating!
