A Poudre School District principal has won a big honor.

Dr. Thomas Dodd of Lesher Middle School was named 2017 National Principal of the Year by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). The award was announced yesterday at a surprise assembly.

The award is icing on the cake for Dr. Dodd who, earlier this year, was named Best Middle School Principal in Colorado from the Colorado Association of School Executives and Colorado Association of Secondary School Principals.

Dr. Dodd has been with Lesher Middle School for 12 years and has led the school's reinvention by implementing the "Anchor Down" motto and anchor pins that all the teachers wear to show their firm, stable role as advocates for each child in the school.

Congratulations Lesher Middle School and Dr. Dodd on a tremendous honor! Go Vikings!
