The Junior League of Fort Collins will deliver over 3,530 healthy snacks to Poudre School District Elementary Schools to help students focus on the Transitional Colorado Assessment Program (“TCAP”) testing. FORT COLLINS, COLO. – All third, fourth, and fifth grade students at Beattie, Harris, and Irish Elementary Schools will have healthy snacks to fuel them through their Transitional Colorado Assessment Program (“TCAP”) testing. Junior League of Fort Collins purchased and delivered healthy snacks to these three elementary schools during the week of February 20, 2012 for third grader TCAP testing, and they will purchase and deliver another round of snacks to the three elementary schools by March 19, 2012 for the third, fourth and fifth grader TCAP testing.

“Our snack program fills a need within the district, as many people forget that a large portion of kids participate in after school activities until their parents are off work,” said Amanda Abney, Junior League member and chair of the Poudre School District Snack Program. “It is up to the parents to pack a snack for their kids for after school and TCAP testing, however, many families are financially unable to do so. Based on 2010 information, there are nine elementary schools in Poudre School District with 40% or more of their students who qualify to receive free and reduced lunches.”
