A tragic incident involving the Loveland Police Department on Friday afternoon has left one man dead; it appears he may have been a suspect in the Wednesday afternoon robbery of First National Bank in downtown.

Details are a little sketchy, but reports have it that the LPD was in the business district area east of the old fairgrounds on SE 8th Street talking to a man who is believed to be suspect in the case. During that interaction, a ‘struggle’ ensued with the man and one of the officers. Right after that, the man shot himself and died on the scene.

From The Reporter-Herald:

A close friend of the man who died said he was in his early 30s.

“(He's) an EMT, he helps people,” Terry Schefter said. “This is just unreal. ... He had a fiancee; he has everything to live for.”

You don’t see many shooting deaths in Loveland; this is already the second of the year for 2015.
