Police Officers Suspended in Berthoud
The Larimer County Sheriff’s Department confirms it’s conducting an independent investigation and one of its sergeants is acting as Berthoud’s Chief of Police.
In a statement on the town of Berthoud’s website, officials announced that several police officers have been placed on paid leave because allegations were made against them.
“In the last several days the town of Berthoud has received numerous inquiries regarding allegations made against several of its police officers,” the statement said. “The Town has not substantiated any of the allegations, and the police officers of the town, like other citizens, are presumed innocent until proven otherwise.”
9News in Denver is reporting that Chief of Police Glenn Johnson and at least one other officer have been suspended.
A Town meeting is scheduled for tonight. (Tuesday) Town leaders say the investigation will be discussed during an executive committee meeting.
