Police Investigate Fatal Car vs Bike Collision
A bicyclist was killed when he rode into the southbound lanes of traffic and was hit by a car heading south. The crash was near the intersection of Bueno Drive and South College Avenue in Fort Collins just after 10 Saturday night. The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The juvenile driving the vehicle was not injured. Here is the complete report from Fort Collins Police Services:
On June 30th, 2018 at 10:17 P.M., a 16-year-old female was driving a 2016 Nissan Leaf southbound on South College Avenue near the intersection of Bueno Drive when a male bicyclist rode into the southbound lanes of travel. The Nissan Leaf collided with the bicyclist who was thrown from the bicycle. The bicyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. The car driver was uninjured in the crash.
The identity of the male bicyclist will be released by the Larimer County Coroner’s Office after notification of next of kin.
South College Avenue was closed for approximately 5 hours while the Fort Collins Police CRASH Team investigated the incident. Anyone with information about the crash who has not already given a statement to police is asked to contact Fort Collins Police Services Officer Ken Koski at 970-221-6555.
