While it was an unusual Winter with not much snow to go around the state, Colorado is known for the great skiing that can take place for a good portion of the year. However, what about those of us who like to take in activities throughout the Spring when the grass is green but the peaks are white (for the most part)?

Yahoo Travel has done an extensive story on things to do this Spring to keep you and your family away from the electronics and be able to enjoy the great outdoors we have been blessed with!

1.) Visit Rocky Mountain National Park this Summer

According to Yahoo, try your hand at geocaching with the “Across the Divide” Geo-Tour that takes you through large swaths of the park. An item is hidden and seekers use GPS and other navigational tools to find it. Searching for these little trinkets gets you off the beaten path, and it’s fun to do with friends, family, or solo.

2.) Mountain Biking

Check out Winter Park Ski Resort as they are not just a destination for skiing anymore, but also mountain biking. With over 600 miles of mountain biking trails, there's a chance that you could spend an entire week mountain biking and not be able to hit every spot.

3.) Dinosaur Bone Digging

In the western part of the state, through the Museum of Western Colorado, you can venture out with a real paleontologist to a quarry where fossil remains of these giant landlubbers are yours for the digging. People actually do find dinosaur bones, which are then tagged and used for the museum’s program.

4.) Horseback Riding

Yahoo Travel is very convincing in their description of horseback riding in the state. They say that Grand County is home to some of the best dude ranches in the country. Stay in a vintage cabin at the Bar Lazy J, ride a horse high into the mountains at Latigo Ranch, learn to line dance at Drowsy Water Ranch, or indulge in a hot stone massage in a riverside spa treatment room at the C Lazy U. Better yet? Try them all.
