On a recommendation of a friend, I was directed to a popular Fort Collins pizza place to try a menu item I would have normally skipped. Krazy Karl's, just a short walk from the Colorado State University campus is known for having a great pizza, however, thanks to a friends recommendation I went there with another item in mind. Over the years, Karl's has won several awards for having the some of the best pizza in town. They are known for their creative recipes when it comes to their pizzas, like their Mile high that has chicken tenders, waffle fries, bacon and green chilis; the Sweet Chili Chicken, that has sweet chili sauce, chicken, red onions and pineapples and the Jalepeno Popper, that has jalapeno, bacon and cream cheese.

When I walked into Karl's, I knew people appreciated their pizza with the amount of tables with pizza pies. But we were their for one particular grinder, the Cuban. Of course we started off with some garlic bites, so good we had to order a second helping. Then we moved on to the main course, the reason we walked though the doors... the Cuban grider. a seasoned bread stuffed with pulled pork, ham, onions, pickles, cheese and coarse ground mustard. When I was told about Krazy Karl's, being a sucker for a good Cuban sandwich, I was skeptical of finding a good representation of one of my favorite sandwiches outside of New York City or Miami. However, I have never been so happy to be proven wrong.

One of the other things that caught my eye was their list of "beer cocktails." Not able to partake at this time, these absolutely will lead to another trip to this local favorite. On a hot summer day, I can't wait to enjoy their Lemon Shandy, a wheat beer with a splash of lemonade, or their Black Velvet, with champagne topped with Guinness and a goto favorite of mine, the Snakebite, a hard cider topped with Guinness.

If you haven't had Karl's pizza, based on the cowed and the amount of pie's that were walking out the door, you need to check them out. But if you're also looking for a change of pace, check out their great menu of grinders.
