Northern Colorado is One of the Three Skinniest Places in the United States

First thing that came to mind when I was reading the most recent study from Gallup and Healthways about the most and least obese cities in the United States, was that there is a scientific reason why all my friends on Facebook and Twitter who are so-called “chubby chasers” or like a little meat on the bones of their significant others are always single…

That reason? Because here is Northern Colorado we have the slimmest pickings for the “bigger type.”

Fort Collins/Loveland, Colorado came in third place as the thinnest city/areas in the US with only a little more than 18 percent of people being obese. The only two cities that are “thinner” than Northern Colorado are Naples/Marco Island, Florida, and our neighbors in Boulder, Colorado. Aurora, CO also made the top ten coming in 7th.

Gallup and Healthways track U.S. obesity levels as part of the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, using Americans’ self-reported height and weight to calculate Body Mass Index (BMI) scores. BMI scores of 30 or higher are considered obese.

Oh, by the way, if you really need to be around more obese folks, maybe Huntington/Ashland, West Virginia/Kentucky or McAllen/Edinburg/Mission, Texas are more your style? They came in the first two slots on the “most obese” list.
