In case you haven't noticed, February 26th kicked off a $300 million renovation to the Foothills Mall in Fort Collins.  Are you jazzed, or no?

Over 10 years in the planning and with the demolition of the old Mervyn's area, it seem as though the planning is over and the game is on for the Foothills Mall face lift in Fort Collins. When all said and done with this project, we'll see 660,000 square feet of retail space and if that's not enough, how about a 10-screen Cinemark all-digital movie theater and to top it off, literally, 400 to 800 apartments.

This re-imagining is one of the single largest re-development efforts in the country today. The partnership with the city and community has created the opportunity to realize the vision - Don Provost, principal of Alberta Redevelopment Partners.

The project is hoping to fix a long-term decrease in the mall’s sales tax revenue which has been down by 61% over the last 10 years.  The project is expected to be completed by the 2015 holiday season and will remain open during the redevelopment however a portion of the mall has been closed permanently to accommodate a nice outdoor community and/or gathering area.
