The Lake Christine Fire near Basalt, Colorado has burned over 12-thousand acres and is 48 percent contained, according to CBS 4 News/Denver. There are about 450 firefighters out there battling the flames and protecting homes. One long time resident dropped by the incident command post to say thanks and to sing a song. That long time resident happened to be Neil Diamond.

Neil and his wife stopped by to say thank you to the men and women who have been there for weeks battling the blaze that started on July 3rd. Neil told the folks that he's been in the area for 20 years and greatly appreciates the work they have all done.

This past January, Neil announced his retirement from touring due to him being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. While the press release on his retirement earlier this year stated that he had the "onset of the disease", it did not stop him from picking up the guitar and singing a tune for the firefighters and first responders.
