Naming Rights Up for Grabs for Loveland’s New BMX Track!

In Loveland, Colorado they’ve gotten a grant that they are going to use to revive the long dormant BMX track next to the Boys and Girls Club. However, they are still a bit short- so YOU have the chance at being a part of the naming of the track!

Part of the Loveland Chamber of Commerce is Loveland Leadership- a program to help develop future leaders in business, civic areas and the community.  Each year as part of the program, the team members are encouraged to take on a volunteer project together. This year’s current 29 members  have chosen to get the BMX track that’s a part of Loveland’s Boys & Girls Club -just off of 1st Street and Denver.

From The Reporter-Herald:

“One of the great parts of a project like this is the class members have such diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise. You can tap into so many resources,” said Alison Hade, a member of the current class.

The Loveland Leadership team set out to raise the $40,000 that it’s going to cost to re-do the track (which will get it up to the criteria needed to make it a sanctioned USA BMX practice track- that will be COOL), as well as getting a few BMX bikes and helmets.

However, they came up a bit short of the goal, and still need to raise $13,000 in cash to get the track done. So, they’ve opened it for public and business donations!  They WILL take any monetary donation, but over $100 and you’ll get a permanent plaque at The Boys and Girls Club, and for $5,000 or more will get you naming rights for the track for the next five years!

From the Reporter-Herald:

“A lot of our teens and older kids are drawn to extreme sports,” Doyon said. “They’ve been asking for the track to get fixed.”

The Loveland Boys and Girls Club wants to attract more teens to the clubhouse, which on an average day last year checked in 150 to 170 children and 10 to 20 teens, said Andy Abbott, athletic director of the club.

“A lot of our teens and older kids are drawn to extreme sports,” [Loveland Boys and Girls Club Unit Director Chrity Doyan] said. “We don’t have as much to offer the teens.”

This is going to be another great thing for all of the kids in Loveland- be a part of it!
