My Favorite Day of the Year – The Day of the Sleigh Riders [PHOTOS] [VIDEO]

It’s no secret to anyone who knows me that the last Sunday before Christmas is hands down my favorite day of the year.  It trumps Christmas, 4th of July and even my birthday.  Yes, that last Sunday before Christmas belongs to the Sleigh Riders.

This years toy run will take place Sunday December 18th and this year we will be gathering and staging at Maui Wowi Hawaiian Coffee and Smoothies in the St. Michaels Town Square. Easy to find on the SW corner of Hwy 34 and 65th Ave.  The ride will end at Whiskey River in Garden City at 618 25th St.

Last year was the biggest to date {See video here} but I have a feeling that this year might just top or exceed expectations of last year as far as the ride is concerned. Granted, we probably won’t raise as many toys thanks to my friend Tony Mueller who did some early Spring cleaning last year and donated 1200 brand new Hot Wheels cars towards the total of 2200 we collected.

So what do the Sleigh Riders do?  We make Christmas happen for hundreds of children in need throughout Weld County.  The Sleigh Riders Motorcycle Toy Run is the largest single donator of toys for the Santa Cops of Weld County prgram and highly endorsed by the City of Greeley.

The entry fee is one brand new toy strapped to your bike somewhere.  For every toy you donate, you get a raffle ticket good to win prizes…the more toys you donate, the more raffle tickets you get.

The first 300 to show up on bikes get a FREE Sleigh Riders t-shirt and also a FREE  ”Sleigh Riders – 2011” bar patch.

Festivities start at 10AM at Maui Wowi and the police escorted parade ride leaves at Noon for Whiskey River where there will be great drink specials, $5 lunch specials, live music again with Psycho X and lot’s of great prizes to give away.  The toy run this year will be over 10 miles and the City of Greeley PD and other law enforcement agencies throughout Weld county will block every intersection we roll through for one continuous safe ride.

There really isn’t any other toy run like it!  So, bring your brand new, unwrapped toys and help make this Christmas a fun and joyous holiday for the kids of Weld County.
