Moratorium on Open Burning Permits in Weld County Revised
You still have to be careful, because it’s still extremely dry out there. However, the Colorado Air Quality Control Commission has lifted the recent moratorium on open burning permits for select areas of Weld County. Effective immediately, open burning permits will be available for all areas of Weld County excluding those that fall within the Carbon Monoxide Attainment/Maintenance Area, which includes Greeley, Evans, and LaSalle.
WHERE DO I GET A BURNING PERMIT?
Open Burning Permits may be obtained online at weldgov.com, in person at the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment, Environmental Health Services, 1555-N. 17th Avenue, Greeley, or at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Air Pollution Control Division, 4300 Cherry Creek Dr. South, Denver.
WHEN AM I NOT ALLOWED TO BURN?
Open burning, even with a permit, may not be conducted on any “RED” air quality alert day for the Front Range area, which includes Weld County. Air quality may be checked online or by calling 1-888-484-3247.
