Dick Thomas is a Fort Collins resident, a retired military veteran, and the owner of an electric car, the Chevy Volt. For him, part of the reason to drive electric is bigger than just monetary savings.

He explains in the video.

...and that's one of the reasons why we bought this car, because we know the costs of war, especially if we fight it for oil.

He enjoys the four door sedan and says it has plenty of room for family, but, according to the video from Fox 31, drives it mainly because electric cars don't rely on imported petroleum.

The rebates that can add up to more than $10,000 and the annual money that he doesn't spend on gas probably make him happy, too. However, as a man who has seen the true reality of war and now has the power to make a driving decision that could lessen conflict in the future, Dick drives electric, and he doesn't look back.
