Michael Buble's new album, 'To Be Loved,' is due on April 23, and while it contains the same blend of covers, originals, and duets that fans have come to expect, he says fans will actually hear more of the real Buble in this set of songs.

"What's funny is it took me up to 'Crazy Love' to figure out who I was," Buble told Billboard, referencing his last album. "I was trying to pull from so many places it took me that long to find out what Michael Buble's distinct voice was. A lot of stuff I did, I was honestly just trying to do an impersonation. Listen, I started when I was 26, so by the time I was in my 30s I started to feel like I had finally put together who I am. I also felt like I had the power for the first time to say, 'This is how I'm gonna do it.'"

Part of that process involved switching producers, with Buble making the jump to Bob Rock after working with David Foster for an extended period of time. "You have a guy who people know from Metallica and 'Slippery When Wet' with Bon Jovi, and yet for my money tackles a standard better than anyone I've ever heard," Buble said of Rock. "He was so cool with just vibeing out. Everything was about a vibe, going to tape and having guys sit in the room ... and take what comes."

Of course, with a baby on the way, artistic development is taking a back seat to fatherhood. "I'd love [this album] to sell 1 million copies, but if it doesn't I got bigger fish to fry," Buble explained. "I got a kid coming, so that's my biggest concern."
