The nation just can’t seem to get a break. On Thursday night (July 7, 2016), a 53-year-old man stabbed a stranger at the Chili’s on the 16th Street Mall in Denver.

“More Life Happens Here” is Chili’s motto. “More Crime Happens Here”, is quickly becoming the motto for the 16th Street Mall in Denver. The mall has been under a lot of scrutiny lately for a rise in the amount of criminal activity; another crime went down on Thursday night.

According to 9News, a gentleman was inside Chili’s on the mall at around 9 pm (I like to think he was enjoying one of those great Presidente margaritas), when another man stabbed him with a box-cutter knife. There was no reported instigation, the man just stabbed him.

After getting cut along his chin and neck, the victim managed to fight back. The perpetrator fled outside onto the mall where an off-duty police officer, working with the Downtown Denver Partnership by beefing up patrols on the mall, chased the perpetrator down and arrested him.

Chili's is one of the great places to relax on the mall; but with all the current goings-on, I think I'll just enjoy a Presidente at the Loveland location.
