A 45-year-old unidentified man was rescued by Rocky Mountain National Park rangers after getting his foot pinned by a boulder. According to the Reporter-Herald, the U.S. citizen who resides in Paris France, was hiking with a group of friends when he fell info a hole and became pinned. The hiker's friends were able to move the boulder, however, the hiker was unable to walk due to his injury.

This is when Rangers were contacted late Monday (August 15, 2016) afternoon. By the time the Rangers arrived, it was too late to evacuate the injured hiker. The two Rangers stayed the night with the hiker, leading an evacuation early Tuesday morning. After moving down rocks and boulders, crossing Lake Haiyaha in an inflatable raft and hiking down trails, the Rangers, and the injured hiker reached the trailhead and met up with an ambulance around 3:30 p.m. where the hiker was taken to the Park Medical Center.
