Loveland’s House of Neighborly Service has been in operation since 1961, helping out those in need. In October, you have the opportunity to quench your thirst and help them help others!

In 1961, 13 pastors in the Loveland area got together and began creating an agency that would be a central place for people to go when they needed help. Over 50 years later, their creation –House of Neighborly Service- is still going strong. They offer comprehensive emergency and basic needs services, case management and long term solutions to help people escape the grips of poverty.

From their website-

Our mission is to provide “help for today and hope for tomorrow” as we directly impact the living conditions for low-income and impoverished residents, as well as a hand-up approach to those who have found themselves in a financial or situational crisis.

A few of the things House of Neighborly Service did in 2014:

  • Provided over 5,000 food baskets to over 10,600 clients
  • Provided over 24,000 articles of clothing to over 1,200 families
  • Issued over 1,200 prescription vouchers
  • Helped over 550 families pay their utility bills

In October, you can help THEM!  All month at Centerra’s Rock Bottom, for each of their ‘RocktoberFest’ beers they sell, they’ll make a donation to House of Neighborly Service!  I find it hard to pass this up: You get to sit in comfort and enjoy a great tasting beverage, while helping someone who could really use a hand up!

Maybe, after you’ve had a ‘RocktoberFest’, you might think about volunteering at HOS!
