If you caught the news of Lonetree reservoir's lease with Colorado Parks and Wildlife's lease being outbid by a private company, you might have been a little upset at the story. A lot of us here in Northern Colorado love to go to the lake for recreation and fishing. The news was that the reservoir would be closed to the public starting the summer of 2018.... There is now an update for those of us that go there on a regular basis!

The entity that won the bid on Lonetree's lease is Berthoud Heritage Metropolitan District has announced some fantastic news! The company will not only allow the continuation of boating and fishing at the lake, they will also be making improvements as well.

Josh Turner, president of Berthoud Heritage Metropolitan District said that they will be keeping this amenity open to the public in an article in the Reporter Herald. He also added that the district has the resources to improve and maintain the lake at an elevated level.

This is great news to hear as I spoke with some of my friends who frequent the lake and they did not seem too happy about the news. Now I can let them know that they will still be able to use the reservoir!
