A beloved team member of the Larimer County Search and Rescue has passed away.

The organization shared on their Facebook page that Abbey, a German Shepherd airscent, passed on suddenly and unexpectedly.

"Abbey started her SAR dog training when her puppy ears still flopped over her head," reads the Facebook obituary. "She quickly showed a strong drive and easily mastered the needed skills. As she matured, Abbey developed a finesse that enhanced those skills and resulted in 2 finds and a number of assists over the course of 60 missions in Larimer County and around our state. Her mission load included several helicopter rides and the ever exciting hot loads. Abbey was a lifetime member of our LCSAR family and her passing leaves a big hole in our hearts and the hearts of our canine partners."

Our thoughts go out to Larimer County Search and Rescue during this difficult time.
