If you think you'll do any skiing and snowboarding in Colorado this year, you might as well buy your passes now.

During the season, pass deals can be hard to find. The resorts offer big savings on their season passes, or special passes like three or four packs, during the off season and often in the early parts of the snow year.

Come Christmas, if you haven't planned ahead, expect to pay around and many times over $100 at most Colorado resorts.

With most season passes, 5 days covers what you paid for it, even at this relatively later date, the deal is still going to be better than full price, unless you are going to ski less than 5 days.

    Steamboat Pass Deals

The snow stays softer, you don't have to linger as long in lift lines, and the snow is legend. Steamboat offers a few packages for those that want to enjoy what I consider to be the best resort in Northern Colorado.

Steamboat is elite, and they know it, so they don't offer a lower priced package deal with other resorts as often as the other places.

I don't care how much it costs. If you like to slide on the snow in Colorado, if you are really passionate about it, there is nothing like Steamboat.

    Copper Mountain/Winter Park Pass Deals

Copper offers one of the coolest passes around, the Snow Day Pass. Every day they get more than 4 inches, the pass works. So, yes, it's a gamble, but at $119 it gives better odds than anything in Vegas. Or the Broncos. Burn.

Also, Copper teams with Winter Park the way Breck is with A Basin and Keystone. One pass, the Rocky Mountain Superpass, gets you access to both.

Breckenridge, Arapahoe Basin, Keystone, Vail, Beaver Creek Pass Deals

Vail Resorts offers the pass with a lot of bang for the buck. They are adding resorts to this pass all the time. Their offering of an unlimited pass at Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge and Keystone with 10 days at Vail and Beaver Creek (with blackouts for the major holidays), plus access to other resorts; like Canyons, Utah, Heavenly, California, Verbier, Switzerland and more is kind of hard to beat.

That's part of the problem. Everyone gets this pass, and uses it on the weekends. Hence, the traffic jams on I70 every weekend. With a good solid crowd avoidance strategy, though, this pass is amazing.

    Loveland Pass Deals

Loveland is such a great mountain. It's amazing how many people drive right by it because they are heading to a spot with more name recognition. Guess what? So is everyone else, so they'll be in lines all day while people at Loveland enjoy smaller crowds and amazing terrain.

Plus, with a daily price of $32.25, their four pack is one of the best deals around.

    Arapahoe Basin Pass Deals

Like it steep? Gnarly? Wild? Above treeline?

Meet the Legend. Arapahoe Basin is for advanced skiers and riders. There aren't many blues, even fewer greens. If that sounds great, you'll love their pass deals. And this resort, like Loveland, has smaller crowds than Keystone and Breckenridge. And you can see both of those from the top of the Basin.

    Long live the Legend!
