According to a press release Wednesday evening, deputies were responding to a felony menacing report, and once they were on the scene they found 49-year-old Marlin Kent Strom threatening a man with a crossbow. When deputies attempted to reason with Strom he became unruly and would not cooperate with authorities. When deputies attempted to arrest Strom he began to fight with them, and a taser was used two separate times without resolve. He then ran into his home and barricaded himself inside.

Larimer County Sheriff's deputies and officers with the Loveland Police Department set up around the house while LCSO SWAT and Fort Collins Police Services SWAT responded.

An Everbridge emergency notification was sent out to about 20 homes in the area alerting them to stay in their homes.

All attempts to get Strom out of his home failed and SWAT deployed chemical agents into his home. Strom continued to stand his ground and not surrender.

Around 5 p.m. SWAT entered the home and took Strom into custody with the assistance of a taser and K-9 deployment.

Strom was treated by the Thompson Valley EMS for light injuries at the scene. He was then taken to the Larimer County Jail. He is facing felony menacing, resisting arrest, obstructing government operations and harassment charges.
