My First Block Party 072This year's 'National Night Out' will happen on Tuesday, August 6th, 2013 and the Larimer County Sheriff's Office is looking for participants. (National Night out is a unique crime and drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and the Larimer County Sheriff's Office.)

Each year's National Night Out campaign involves citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 15,000 communities from all 50 states in addition to U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide.  It is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local  anti crime programs
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back!

They encourage neighborhoods to celebrate with block parties, cookouts, visits from the Sheriff's office, exhibits, flashlight walks, contests or youth programs to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.

If your neighborhood or groups is interested in participating you should contact Barbara Bennett, the Sheriff's Auxiliary Unit Coordinator, at 970-682-0597.
