If you have pets, whether they're outdoor pets or not, you should probably make sure they're up-to-date on their rabies shots.

The Coloradoan reports Larimer County currently has the most terrestrial rabies cases of any county in Colorado.

Here’s how rabies spreads: Skunks have long been known to carry rabies east of Colorado. These skunks have moved west, and when they’re infected, they bite other wild animals, maybe a fox. Then the fox roams into your neighborhood and bites your cat, eventually killing it. Or maybe the fox bites you.

Rabies is absolutely fatal to animals, and humans can die from it too.

Animals who have rabies can be uncharacteristically aggressive towards humans, so make sure your family knows not to approach wild animals, no matter how cute they are.

Looks like my wife and I need to make an appointment at the vet for our little guy!
