Well, if your name has become synonymous with ‘hiding the truth’, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that formerly beloved cyclist and national treasure Lance Armstrong has gotten caught up in another lie. This time, involving him being drugged- not while on the wheels of a bike, but while behind the wheel of a car.

Many people feel hurt by the lying that Lance Armstrong perpetrated on his fans. Maybe that’s why he and his girlfriend decided to not tell the truth when he hit a couple of cars after drinking one night in Aspen over the holidays.

It looks like on the night of December 28th, 2015, Lance and his girlfriend, Anna Hansen, were returning home after a shindig in Aspen. Along the way, Lance struck two parked vehicles. So, since he’d been drinking, they decided that Anna would take the blame.

Even better- they told the man who’d rented one of the cars (whose house was nearby) that Anna was to blame, but they did not stay at the scene for police to arrive. Classic Lance…

Police eventually figured all of this out and Hansen admitted to covering for Lance; they issued Lance a citation on January 11th.

Hansen’s statement from USA Today:

We've had our family name smeared over every paper in the world in the last couple of years and honestly, I've got teenagers, I just wanted to protect my family," Hansen told police. "I thought, gosh, Anna Hansen hit some cars, it's not going to show up in the papers, but Lance Armstrong hit some cars, it's going to be a national story.

Armstrong’s ticket is for failure to report an accident and for speeding. Since they could not test him for alcohol, he’s not charged with that.

Armstrong’s attorney for the case is Pamela Mackey, the same lawyer that Kobe Bryant retained for his own infractions with the law while in Colorado.
