A 5-year-old boy was hospitalized Monday morning after he ran into traffic and was struck by a car near Dos Rios Elementary School in Evans.

According to the Greeley Tribune:

The kindergarten student was taken to North Colorado Medical Center for evaluation, but his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

The accident occurred about 8 a.m. in front of Dos Rios Elementary School. The boy apparently darted out into traffic without warning. He was struck by a car driving by 35-year old Ann Ybarra. It's not known yet if she will face any charges. The crossing guard had not yet arrived at the intersection to help direct students across the street at the time of the incident.
