Jury Finds Fort Collins Man Not Guilty of Rape Charges
A 26 year-old Fort Collins man charged with rape over a year ago was found not guilty in a Fort Collins court Monday.
Prosecutors told the court that Andres Alers sexually assaulted a woman on an Old Town Square bench in 2013.
According to the Coloradoan, the woman had reported to police that the woman left the bar with Alers, they kissed and then he began to force himself on her. She escaped and re-joined her friends at a nearby bar.
Evidence, including DNA was evaluated by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
Alers pleaded not guilty to a class -three sex assault earlier this year and has been out of jail on a 25-thousand dollar bond one-year ago this week.
The four-day trial wrapped up Friday and the jury offered their findings of not-guilty Monday, Dec. 8, 2014.
