Today, I was escorted by the Air National Guard and Poudre Fire Authority inside the  High Park Fire restricted zone. We drove into Poudre Canyon on Colorado Highway 14. We started our tour along CR29-C, just about 1 mile west of Ted's Place, off Highway 287 north of Fort Collins.

Just past Ted's Place you can begin to see burned ground, and not far from that charred soil that once was somebody's home. So sad. One home gone, while others so close were still standing.

We also stopped just a couple miles west of Highway 14 where we were shown a rest area where an out building or restroom (made of metal) was burned to the ground, while the scenic area map, made of wood, wasn't even charred. It was strange to see how a wildfire burns some things, while it misses others just feet away.
