Insect Killing Gun Ridiculously Inviting

I was telling my wife old stories about my childhood, when the idea of the salt gun came up.

When I was a kid, there was a legend that the farmer that had property on the edge of the woods near our home had a salt gun, and if he caught any kids on his land, he'd shoot them with it.

The salt gun idea is like rubber bullets. They hit you and hurt you, but don't kill you. We then started wondering, does such a gun exist? Has it ever existed?

Though I remember the legend like it was yesterday, I never saw the farmer, much less felt the sting of salt from his gun. I have never seen a salt gun, never heard of one outside of this legend, and so I googled it. What came up?
