I don't know about you, but when it comes to working out, I find it easier to do all of it when I am doing all of it.

Does that make sense? Let me clarify.

When it comes to working out, my biggest foe, and one of the biggest culprits in causing premature aging is stopping altogether.

I find it easiest to maintain a strong, healthy body when I'm in the midst of a strong and consistent routine.

Stopping altogether is one of the worst things I can do to my body, and when I do stop, I feel it.

A friend of the radio station was once amazed after she joined one of our workout programs and found that her decades old back problems were caused by her lack of activity. Since her back always hurt, she couldn't imagine working out. When she finally got to the end of her rope, had used chiropractors, doctors, medications and none of it really worked, she finally relented and joined our program. Within weeks her back pain was gone. Why?

Because before she was weak. When she strengthened her core and the rest of her body, the pain disappeared. Do you know what appeared? A new person. An empowered person. Someone who realized that, though tiring, working out gives power, it doesn't take it away.

After my last major competitive event, I had rarely felt better. I documented it here and it contains the story of my recovery from substance abuse problems.

Now, a couple of years later, I haven't competed and have done little besides last year's Dare to Lose competition where I was a team leader and coach. So, there were some periods where my consistency in working out fell off the map. My yoga practice was, at times, non existent.

I really slacked this summer when it comes to yoga, and without it, I feel the age of my body. In the last 3 weeks, I've practiced almost every day, and guess what? I feel it already. I mean, I feel incredible already.

This always happens when I get back into a solid practice and supporting routine. I ask myself why I ever stopped.

As always, I find something to blame, which is pointless, and it usually ends up being busy-ness. Everyone knows how that feels.

But for me, being busy, as I always am, feels better when I don't have aches, pains, or weakness caused by not working out.
