Last week, a suspect was booked into the Larimer County Jail, following an investigation that indicated his involvement of trafficking women in Fort Collins.

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division, the Larimer County District Attorney’s Office, and the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force in Denver had been working on investigating this specific case for two years, and finally arrested 32-year-old Durrell S. Bumphus on March 8. Authorities began looking into the case in January of 2015, after receiving information from the Safe Streets Task Force regarding human trafficking happening in Fort Collins. Deputies initially contacted two women at a hotel on East Mulberry Street, and upon questioning and some further digging, police determined they were both being trafficked by Bumphus. One woman is an adult while the other is a 16-year-old minor.

The allegations against the suspect are:

C.R.S. 18-3-504 – Human Trafficking of a Minor for Sexual Servitude (Felony 3) 1 Count
C.R.S. 18-3-504 – Human Trafficking for Sexual Servitude (Felony 3) 1 Count
C.R.S. 18-7-206 – Pimping (Felony 3) 1 Count
C.R.S. 18-7-405 – Pimping of a Child (Felony 3) 1 Count
C.R.S. 18-7-403(1)(b) – Pandering of a Child – Arranging Prostitution (Felony 3) 1 Count
C.R.S. 18-7-403.5 – Procurement of a Child (Felony 3) 1 Count
C.R.S. 18-1.3-801 – Habitual Criminal x 4 Counts

Bumphus is currently being held in the Larimer County Jail with a $500,000 bond and these charges are merely an accusation until, and unless, the defendant is proven guilty.
