Labor Day weekend came and went. With the three day holiday, most people spend it out and about with friends, barbecuing or camping. I chose to spend nearly all of my weekend in my garage as I have been very focused on getting the dining room table put together. Taking a traditional route on joining the ends together is quite time consuming. The measurements, cuts and lines need to be exact since no screws will be used to compensate for misalignment. The joining method being used on the table legs is called a mortise and tenon... Almost like how Legos connect to each other.

This is the first leg after the completed joinery. The joint came out square and flush. Not bad for my first one ever!

Here are both of the legs with the completed joints. The legs are currently dry fit as there is going to be more done to them prior to the final assembly.

On the agenda this week I am hoping to get the 45 degree braces that will be on the top and the bottom of the legs. A total of 8 will be on both legs. After those are cut to length, they will get the same joinery treatment and then the legs will enter the glue up stage and will be a solid piece.
