The City of Greeley will be starting a new project on 10th Street that will snarl traffic for about 90 days. The project in question is long overdue and needed.

Spring is just around the corner and with it comes road construction. There is no question the City of Greeley is due for some major work and one of those places that has been looked over for years is the intersection at 23rd Avenue and 10th Street.

The new project in question will snarl traffic on one of the cities main east-west thoroughfares. Road construction on the one-ways, 9th and 10th Streets at the 23rd Avenue intersection is the culprit in question. This is a big intersection and is long overdue for a major overhaul.

The road construction project, which is slated to begin on March 23, will include widening all the lanes, new paving, curbs and gutters. There will also be a new pedestrian lighting system put in place along with new crossing signals, sidewalks including elevated crosswalks as well. In addition to the face lift, there will of course be new landscaping, irrigation and the cherry on top will be an area for a public art project in the new triangular intersection median.

The project should take about 90 days with some help from Mother Nature and there will a minimum of one lane open to traffic but you may consider an alternate route along 4th, 5th or 6th streets just to be safe.
