Greeley Police Investigate a Possible Road Rage Fatality – UPDATE
An autopsy has confirmed that the man involved in what investigators say may have been an act of road rage was shot before he crashed into a retaining wall. On Tuesday police responded to a wreck with injuries on 29th Street in Greeley. There, they found the vehicle’s only occupant — Alberto Ruiz — dead. At the time, investigators deemed his death suspicious. They say they believe the incident was between two vehicles, possibly due to road rage.
Greeley Police are investigating yesterday’s traffic fatality as a homicide. Around 11:00 Tuesday morning, police responded to a reported traffic accident with injuries on 29th Street in Greeley. Police say the only man in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene and deemed his death suspicious. They believe the incident was between two vehicles and may have been caused by road rage.
Witnesses reported hearing an explosion before the victim crashed into a retaining wall at 3027 29th Street and then they saw a small pickup speed away. It’s described as a 1998 to 2002 Chevrolet S-10 pick-up truck, tan or gold colored with black fender flares.
The victim’s name was not immediately released.
