Greeley Firefighters Sent to Help Fight Stuart Hole Fire

A team of Greeley Firefighters have been sent to help battle the Stuart Hole Fire burning northwest of Fort Collins. The latest estimate on the fire has it estimated at 223 acres, with no containment yet, and three out buildings lost. Greeley Firefighters were requested by the Colorado State Forest Service.

Three firefighters were sent to the Stuart Hole Fire in Larimer County.  The crew is part of a 21 member group of Greeley Fire personnel who are trained and certified in wildland firefighting. They will be taking a State Forest Service Engine (see photo above) which is currently housed at Fire Station #3, located at 150 35^th Avenue in Greeley as part of a partnership agreement between Greeley Fire and the State of Colorado. The Engine is four wheel drive and is equipped and designed for wildland firefighting operations. As a participant in the this program, the Greeley Fire Department provides garage space for the State’s fire engine as well as performing routine maintenance, in order to keep the truck in running, operational condition until such time it may need to be activated, as is case with today’s response.

The Greeley crew that is responding to Larimer County  today could be deployed to the Stuart Hole fire for up to 14 days and possible assignments include suppression activities and structure protection.
