Greeley Fire Department and Banner Paramedic Services had to rescue a construction worker who fell about 30 feet at a construction site at1060 1st Avenue, in Greeley earlier this week.

The man fell to the bottom of a building under construction.   Access to him was difficult because the building was under construction.  Additional Greeley Fire units had to be called in to perform a technical rescue.

The patient was extricated one hour and twenty minutes after the first 911 call.   The patient was transported to a local hospital by Banner Paramedic Services, where he is being treated for an injured pelvis.

How Did They Do It?

A Greeley Fire Firefighter/Paramedic and two Firefighter/EMT’s  made access to the patient and to provide patient care and to package the patient for technical evacuation.  The remainder of the personnel on-scene rigged a technical rescue system,  utilizing ropes, pulleys  and aerial ladder.
