Greeley-Evans Crime Log is out and each week I don't think things can go any crazier but I am left scratching my head again. Chickens, the cleaning lady and a refund all in the log this week.

A big Thank You to dispatchers, law enforcement and others who work these calls and try to sort things out. As the Greeley Tribune reported, here is the crime log for the Greeley-Evans area for May 7th through 14th.

Thursday, May 7

5:45 p.m.: A caller residing on 29th Avenue Place requested a Greeley officer respond to meet with her 13-year-old stepson and explain the “downfalls of lying and what it leads to.”

Friday, May 8

2 p.m.: A Greeley resident called dispatch asking if someone pierces a kitten’s ears if that qualifies as animal cruelty. The caller was referencing a photo she saw posted to Facebook. The girl who posted the photo lives in another country.

Saturday, May 9

10:30 a.m.: Greeley police responded to a grocery store in the 4400 block of Centerplace Drive for a report of a man quacking at passersby.

9 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 200 block of 55th Avenue for a report of a resident who was the victim of a ding-dong-ditch prank involving a live chicken on a string. The culprits left the chicken hanging from the caller’s doorknob. The caller did not know what to do with the animal.

Sunday, May 10

12:30 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 2400 block of 14th Avenue Court for a report of a suspicious person hiding out in the dumpsters taking photos of cars with a big camera. Turned out to be a college student working on a project.

8:45 p.m.: Greeley police spoke to a resident of 49th Avenue who wanted an officer to track down his stepfather because he was cheating on his mother with the cleaning lady. The caller wanted officers to ping his father’s cell phone to find him. Officer’s told the caller suspicions of cheating wasn’t enough to violate the father’s constitutional right to privacy. The caller responded, “Our president violates the Constitution all the time. I was hoping that would make it OK for you.” The caller was more satisfied when officers suggested he hire a private investigator.

Monday, May 11

7 p.m.: Evans police responded to the 2600 block of 8th Avenue for a report of a man who was asking residents how he could break into his own car. The caller, who works at a local business, asked for an officer to remove the man from the area because he didn’t “look pleasant.”

8 a.m.: Greeley police responded to the 800 block of 36th Avenue for a report of a dead cat beneath a resident’s porch. The dead cat was really a black ball cap.

2 p.m.: Greeley police responded to the 1600 block of 33rd Avenue for a report of a bizarre bird that needed to be relocated because it didn’t look native. When asked to describe the bird, which turned out to be a Chucker, the caller said it looked like, “A pheasant mixed with a penguin.”

3:15 p.m.: Greeley police responded to a restaurant in the 3000 block of 23rd Avenue for a report of a man who was refusing to leave without a refund because the restaurant served his girlfriend stale noodles.

Tuesday, May 12

6 p.m.: Evans police responded to 49th Street and 35th Avenue for a report of a suspicious camper with people inside, “Watching the river. I don’t know what they are doing.”

8 p.m.: Evans police responded to 40th and Boulder streets for a report of a weird guy walking around Evans wearing a Santa Claus hat.

Thursday, May 14

4:30 p.m.: Evans police responded to the 1100 block of 37th Street for a request by a parent to scare her children straight for not behaving. Officers told the woman they don’t scare children straight because police are their friends. They provided other suggestions on how to bring her kids in line.
