Goats Control Weeds in Boulder
A day to day joy of living in the country is the drive home from work on back roads. This
picture was taken just northwest of Windsor and it shows 'career goats' eating weeds and holding up traffic. We all waited for the goats to cross the road and just smiled at their antics. They are a wonderful alternative to chemicals in herbicides.
The City of Boulder is using 300 goats to control weeds on property managed by the city in July and August. City officials say the goats will graze in natural areas and at the Boulder Reservoir water treatment facility. A trained guard dog will be used to protect the goats from predators. The city has been using goats to control invasive weeds for more than a decade. The Denver Channel has more.
