Gloria Estefan: Singer, songwriter, actress and … CIA agent? The rhythm is gonna get you, terrorists!

On ‘The Talk,’ Estefan revealed that she nearly became a spy after being approached by the Central Intelligence Agency because of her language skills. Who knew?

According to Estefan, she was 17-years-old at the time and was working for US Customs at Miami International Airport. Her fluency in English, Spanish and French attracted the attention of the CIA, who wanted her to enter agent training in Atlanta.

But the singer turned down the job because of her father’s unfortunate experience as a bodyguard for Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista. It’s a good thing too. Without Estefan, the music scene would have significantly less “conga beat.”

Watch Estefan discuss how she almost became Jason Bourne below.
