Music is the universal language – using both emotions and stories to connect people and bridge the gap between different cultures, in a way that no other medium can do. For the past decade, NYC-based globalFEST has been bringing together diverse musicians from all over the world, to not only showcase their talents by having them perform on stage at one of the most dynamic global music festivals there is, but to also deepen the cultural understanding of one another through music. Now, several of the globalFEST artists are hitting the road for the first-ever national tour, and will be making a stop in Fort Collins along the way. On March 30, join the Lincoln Center for a cultural celebration, as they proudly host Creole Carnival - an energetic evening filled with authentic costumes, dancing, and a fusion of sounds from Brazil, Haiti, and Jamaica.

With such a beautifully, captivating voice and passion for storytelling, it's easy to see why Emeline Michel has been referred to as being "an island goddess." Her inspirational music is strongly influenced by traditional Haitian rhythms, but also has a jazzy/pop sound to it.

Hailing from Jamaica, singer/songwriter Brushy One-String is a soulful artist whose music comes straight from the heart. Brushy's instrument of choice? A one-string guitar. His checkered past and exposure to many different genres of music throughout his life, have helped to shape the unconventional style that he is known for today. From bluesy ballads to up-tempo beats, Brushy shows that when it comes to music, the island has much more to offer than just reggae.

Brazilian samba band, Casuarina, will be rounding out the Carnival celebration – performing a compilation of original compositions, along with recreations of classic bohemian grooves. The lively music coming from this talented five-piece band is guaranteed to get you off your feet and keep you dancing all night long!

The musical festivities will kick off at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range from $15-$30 and can be purchased online or in-person at the Lincoln Center box office, located at 417 West Magnolia Street in Fort Collins.
