2016 just keeps bringing the celebrity deaths.  I guess you just think of famous people being immortal, and it hits hard when we lose one.

The Eagles were scheduled to be recognized by The Kennedy Center Honors in November of 2015, but had to put that off due to Glenn Frey’s health conditions. Looks like those conditions took their toll on the legend. Glenn died at the age of 67 on Monday (January 19, 2016).

Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia.

Glenn Frey helped form The Eagles with Don Henley, Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner in 1971. The band went on to incredible success throughout the 70s and into the 80s. At times, they were as famous for their partying as for their songs; at his own website Glenn stated that his partying back then, played a part in his condition.

Burgers, beer, blow and broads

Looking back at The Eagles, it was always about Don and Glenn. Even when the band reunited after 14 years of being broken-up, Don and Glenn received more money than the other members of the band- and justly so: People were coming to see Don and Glenn- not so much the other guys.

Don has always come across as the stoic one, and Glenn was the party guy. He always seemed to be smiling, that’s for sure.  His solo career never came close to the success of Don’s, but Don never inspired a hit TV episode, and never starred in one of the biggest movies of the 90’s, so..

Glenn did put out some great solo stuff:  The One You Love, The Heat Is On, Smuggler’s Blues, You Belong to the City, to name a few.

One of the icons of Rock and Roll.

Rest in Peace, Desperado.
